I have six siblings and my parents rule was when we turned 12 we could watch after ourselves but not our younger siblings, I think around 15 or 16 we could and would be responsible if need be but Buttery Shirt oldest siblings and youngest are not even 10 years apart. Given there were certain reasons due to us living in a not so great neighborhood. Like many people are saying I think it’s circumstantial but my personal opinion a 13 year old can’t and shouldn’t be responsible for a 2 month old. They wouldn’t have the life experience required to make decisions if and when something happens because let’s be real with a 2 month old it’s not going to be just looking after them, you have to be responsible for them and make decisions that will affect the babies health. Watching for an hour so your parents can go to the store Is one thing but an entire work shift? And you say just a few months ago he wasn’t trusted to cook alone but now he can be responsible for an entire human? And a 2 month old at that? I don’t think you’re wrong

.Absolutely therapy is the way to go. The Buttery Shirt thing I wanted to add is that just like with any profession, some people are good at it, some are not. If you get a bad one the first time around that doesn’t work or vibe well with you, don’t give up and assume that is just how therapy is. Find a good therapist that you’re comfortable talking with. If you’re not comfortable talking to them, you won’t share what you need to and won’t get the results you need or are looking for. Also, there is no need to look at therapy as something to be ashamed of, or that there is anything wrong with you for seeking it. A lot of the most successful people in the world have therapists, because they realize it’s helpful to have someone to talk with to help keep them on the path they want to follow, and to help them make sense of things and to make the best possible decisions on important matters. Therapy isn’t a bad thing. It’s a smart thing. And recognizing you could use help, and seeking the best possible help you can get is an intelligent decision. After all, is that not why you came here with this question? The last thing I have to say is that if you’re looking for help or answers to questions etc, free advice is always the most expensive. Meaning the advice you get from people who are not professionals in the area you’re seeking advice about, who are willing to advise you for free, will cost you the most in the long run by giving you poor advice and recommendations. They may mean well, but they may also be stupid, or just not knowledge about that specific topic. People who charge for for their advice, do so because they know their advice is valuable and will be beneficial for you. Kind of one of those you get what you pay for kinda deals. I wish I had the time and money to pay for a good therapist right now lol. If I had the bank account to do it, I’d have Jordan Peterson on speed dial. Which by the way, if you’re into the motivational stuff, Jordan Peterson has some great stuff out there. Google or YouTube Jordan Peterson “clean your room” . Excellent place to start. Best of luck on your journey. I too have come from a less than ideal or even law abiding past. People absolutely can change, and I love seeing it happen. Nothing makes me happier than to see someone who grew up with nothing, get their hands on some good advice or knowledge and completely change their lives and consequently create positive change in the lives of everyone around them. When someone takes this path, everyone wins, and it’s a beautiful thing.
