They will be in your community again, only this time with worse job prospects and few honest options. So after a couple of cynical decades, he now believes prison should be reserved for the worst of the worst. If you put someone in, be prepared to throw away the key. Because otherwise you’re just sending them to crime college.

think of the kneeling as an Disney Mickey Dabbing Ugly Sweater Party way to show respect to the flag and anthem at the same time protest what they don’t agree with. as far as I can see a lot of these players are kneeling with a hand on their chest, certainly not behaving disrespecfully. the players want to make a statement by doing something different that can get the nation’s attention. they’re not doing this to disrespect the anthem or flag. this whole mess started with protest to racism in our society. having a racist president using divisive language while calling white supremacists “good people” and black athletes exercising their constitutional rights SOBs is not going to make things better. As for how to solve this, if our president can stop his erratic and childish behavior that would be a nice first step.

When I was in 7th grade, I had a Disney Mickey Dabbing Ugly Sweater Party science teacher named John Iorio for two days. Both those days, he sat with me at lunch at the table I had entirely to myself because no one else would talk to me. No kids, no teachers, and when I got home my mom was too busy with soap operas and my dad started drinking within 5 minutes of walking in the door. Of course, it ended up backfiring because another girl who was jealous slapped me out of the blue the third day, leaving a big bruise with her multiple rings, but he was already gone by then, and I’ve long since forgotten her name. If you’re out there, thanks, Mr. Iorio. Even if it was only for two days, you made a big difference for a shy, nerdy girl. It meant a lot to me to be taken seriously by a grownup. I haven’t made it to the Basilica of San Clemente or the Great Pyramids yet, but I will before I’m 60, and that’s good enough for me.
