I was that kid, too; I’ve always adored with babies. My main perspective for my initial comment is the fact that we’ve spent some time lately with my kids’ cousins who are 10, 12 and 13, all boys. The cousins are great with my 4yo and will happily play with him for hours. I’m always nearby (like in the kitchen overlooking the backyard where they play) and there have been zero issues. Only one of the cousins, the 12yo, has showed any interest in our 2 month old baby. He held the baby awkwardly for one minute, and when the baby started fussing just a little, handed the baby back to me in a near panic. I could imagine leaving my 4yo with any of those boys for a few hours if I was in a tough caregiving spot and knew I was five minutes away. I absolutely cannot imagine leaving my baby with any of them.
