A guy I grew up with and honestly consider a younger brother caused a DUI fatality a Kitty Noel Mc Thanksgiving Women Mens Ugly Christmas Sweater. He took a plea – to spare the victim’s family – for 13 years. He’s heartbroken and terrified in prison, but puts on a brave face and does everything he can to stay safe and healthy and atone for his actions. Unfortunately, in the state he’s in, they have zero programming for substance abuse for state prisoners. He’s obviously sober now (had been for several months, until the night he caused the wreck), but would benefit greatly from some therapy. I’m one of the few people who writes him, puts money on his account, and still cares about him. It’s a damned shame his family was so judgmental and largely ostracized him for being gay. That, combined with religious trauma, is what I think ultimately led to his addiction. I guess what I’m saying here is that we’re all more than the sum of our mistakes. I don’t know why I felt compelled to even post this…maybe because my friend has been on my mind all day.

You should look up Kaepernick’s first statement after he started kneeling (I’d link it but I’m on mobile so apologies). He started doing it to protest police brutality, something that disproportionately affects black communities, as well as poverty, poor education, and incarceration–especially for nonviolent offenses (crack, for instance, gets you a much worse sentence than cocaine, and white people on average sell and use more drugs than blacks yet we’re imprisoned more often). There’s a ton of studies and resources analyzing how the black community is still struggling with all the blatantly racist fuckery of the 20th century and beyond, you don’t have to take my word for it but I can give you some good references if you feel like reading.

I was sitting in the Kitty Noel Mc Thanksgiving Women Mens Ugly Christmas Sweater of my room reading this and when the star/shadow thing appeared and talked about how his mother would find peace, I started sobbing. I lost my grandfather to cancer in August 2018. It was extremely sudden. He had stomach pains all through July, but they didn’t find the cancer in his throat and stomach until it was way past too late. The last time I saw him was in a hospital. I was in group therapy at the time and the receptionist called me to the front and I had no idea why. My mom was there and I could tell she had been crying. I got to the car and my grandmother was there. She had been crying too. When we got to the hospital, me and my grandmother were the first ones to see him. His skin was yellow, eyes bloodshot, drops of blood stains dotted his gown, and he just looked around and made these moans. I didn’t know how bad it was until I saw him. He was already gone. I knew it right there. I cried so hard because the man who had basically raised me was dying and no one could do anything to stop it. My grandmother was there with me and she gave him a kiss on his forehead and he just spasmed. I left that hospital and went straight back to my group therapy place and one of the therapists saw me, took me into a room, and held me while I cried. I went home and cried some more. Around 10:00pm, we get a call. He died. He was always good to me. He loved me more than anything. My grandmother still tells me that I was his world. He basically raised me and taught me everything. He was extremely active in our local church. He helped with basically everything and everyone at the church said that you don’t really notice how much someone does until they’re gone. I thought I had gotten most of my grief out of my system, but I’ll be damned if this story doesn’t make me go back to how I felt in that hospital. I miss him so much.
