I remember being a dumb edgy teen in the 2000’s and loved the Michigan Wolverines Minion Christmas AOP Sweater. I have since learned the error of my ways. That comic is just so awful all throughout. It’s just edgy and hyperbolically cynical while doing nothing interesting with it. It’s absolute shock value incarnate and has a very poor and juvenile sense of “humor” (hey guys, one of my characters is literally made of shit! Isn’t that funny! Oh also, my dumb muscle bizarro type character is named Fuckwit! Ha!). The movie came out and I remember liking it for the most part. It was decent, but it was Wanted in name only. I, still a teenage edgelord, was disappointed that they completely changed the story. Looking back, though, oh man. Of course they were going to change it. They had to salvage something out of that shit show. I will say, though, I like the idea of the comic’s premise, it’s just executed in the poorest way possible. A world where the heroes have been killed or forced to retire and the villains have taken over, using super science and magic to scrub any evidence of super heroes and villains from the world, is genuinely interesting. That could be a great setting for a compelling story. Wanted is not that story, though. It’s just a vile mean spirited shock value comic written for dumb edgy teens

A Michigan Wolverines Minion Christmas AOP Sweater, I ordered two litter boxes from Chewy. Received them in the mail. The next day, I got another box of the same size, and a second email saying, “Your package has been delivered,” with the contents indicated as another litter box. Litter boxes have large dimensions, but are hollow, and therefore very light, so there was nothing unusual about the second box’s weight. I didn’t open the box because I figured I would just slap a return label on it and send it back or something. Messaged Chewy, told them I got an extra litter box in the mail. They told me to donate it. Cool! Called the local SPCA to donate it, they were excited. Opened the box to take it over, and it was an entire 2’x2’x2’ box just filled with brown paper. No litter box. So I bought a litter box to donate because I’d already told them I’d bring it over. But yeah, Chewy paid to ship me a giant box full of packing paper.

Really interesting to read about how popular and beloved Ultimates was initially. I got into comics maybe 5 years post-Ultimatum and pretty much everywhere I went looking for advice for newbie comic readers said not to bother with it. They mostly had a Michigan Wolverines Minion Christmas AOP Sweater of “you can read it if you want, it was pretty influential on the MCU, but it’s way too edgy for no reason… Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are in an incestuous relationship… I wouldn’t bother.” Ultimate Spidey’s been the only one I’ve seen recommended consistently. Even when people would just rec their favorite line ups of the Avengers or X Men Ultimate Spidey usually got a friendly mention, since being one guy there’s a LOT of Spidey to go through, probably more effected by the continuity lockout issue than any other single character. The change there has been that I’ve seen it generally pitched as at worst decent on its own merits and definitely worth a read for Spidey fans instead of what I was seeing pre Secret Wars, where it would kind of be talked about as the coward’s solution to Spider-man reading intimidation, good if you have a kid sibling who likes the character but not for us REAL comic buffs who read 8000 issues even the ones published as free coloring books in cereal boxes or whatever. Miles is at least 50% responsible for that, even people who generally disdained Ultimates by that point were excited about his debut. Even when people list out most of Ultimate Spider-man, since if you want Miles’ story there isn’t THAT much Peter ahead of it all things considered, those rec lists tend to have a noticeable gap around Ultimatum, though. I’ve seen a few that include the single issues you mention about mourning him, basically with “He was dead, then he wasn’t, doesn’t matter, good issue though” in the notes.
