One Piece Straw Hat Priate Symbol Ugly Christmas Sweater Xmas Gift
This story is about my friends MIL, and her wedding. Strap in guys, this is a One Piece Straw Hat Priate Symbol Ugly Christmas Sweater Xmas Gift in which I did THE THING that got me banned from any of her family functions. (Plus a few threats of dismemberment and bodily harm) A good friend of mine from university was getting married! They had been a couple since Junior year of college, through her 2 years in the peace corps and currently her return to this continent. 6 years in total. She had been to all manner of family functions and always came back with a strange story about how she thinks her MIL secretly hates her. But she being a very quiet and sweet person pushed those thoughts aside. Point 1: She is vegetarian and jewish, husband is not. She was invited and went to Christmas dinner and figured she would just eat sides, as well she brought a vegetarian casserole. MIL, after knowing her for THREE years, and being told by husband a few weeks before about not to forget friend doesn’t eat meat…proceeded to put meat in every dish. Friend drank water and ate her casserole the whole night while MIL cried to everyone that friend was so rude for not eating her cooking. Anyway, back to the story. A few friends and I were asked to be in the wedding. Friend has a HUGE family and so this was not going to be a small affair. Neither of them is particularly religious, but friend said it was would be nice to be married under a hoopa. (Think an arbor but 4 poles and covered with a white cloth and lots of flowers) Husband said he could care less, and told her to go and rent one for the wedding. I was at the bridal shower when MIL found out the “pretty canopy” was actually a hoopa. She almost lost her shit in front of a bunch of people, but managed to compose herself and laugh angrily that “if the jews were being represented so would the catholics.” In my head I heard a record screech, guys… they aren’t catholic.

He winced as I spoke, so subtly I almost missed it. I could see the One Piece Straw Hat Priate Symbol Ugly Christmas Sweater Xmas Gift his mouth tighten. Had I justβ¦ annoyed him? βWhat’s so special up there in them rocks and trees?β He clenched his hands into fists. He was acting like I was sitting behind him in class, asking him for the answers to a test. What was he getting told by the spirit? I leaned in to his ear, βthe mountains to the east huh? Whence the drumming and wrath of the fucking spirit cometh – what honey doth thou master pour in thine ear, dickhead?β He whipped his whole body around to face me, glaring at me with a visceral hatred. He had tears in his eyes… this ghost was about toΒ fuckin cry. I was floored. He came at me then, with deliberate movement, a booze-fueled young man’s stride you see in the parking lot of a bar, the kind that brings fists with it. My heart started pounding immediately. I took a step back as though to brace for him. He canβt touch you, dumbass. I forced myself to hold my ground. Right before it happened, I think I said outloud βoh whatβre you gonna d-β Then he screamed in my face. It wasnβt a scream though, it was a fog horn, a dying pig, a sheet of aluminum in a tornado, a terrified kid bleeding to death in a truck on the battlefield. It made my organs shake, I went blind, couldnβt tell up from down. I could smell the noise of his scream, taste it. It felt like all my teeth were splintering in my gums. When he stopped, I realized I was lying in the snow, staring up at Creeps, his body shaking. He turned and stalked away before Iβd even realized what happened.

I really appreciate these descriptions. Your sense of the One Piece Straw Hat Priate Symbol Ugly Christmas Sweater Xmas Gift with mine, and I think captures why I struggle so much with trying to look effortless/casual: I keep on sliding over into frump! I lack a vision of effortless intentionality. I also think that for me, “datedness” and “frump” relate to one another. One thing I’ve noticed in my own style sense, as I navigate the great silhouette shift of this half-decade, is that my sense of something being “dated” really only comes into play if “frump” as defined here (lack of intentionality, “just gets the job done”) is also a risk. That is: if I’m wearing my favorite, most directional pieces β it really doesn’t matter if they have features that look “dated.” That flowy abstract-print top that I used to wear over leggings β tuck it in to a pair of nice wider leg trousers and it looks somehow retro classic. But with a pair of wider leg jeans, it just looks … boring, like I haven’t gotten the message about tighter-fitting tops these days Another example: I still wear skinny jeans sometimes, but primarily with knee-high boots and my favorite blazers. To my eye, it works as a kind of deconstructed equestrian thing that looks highly intentional. And I still think my skinny-legged suit trousers look amazing with their matching jacket: it’s obviously an outfit meant to work together. Basically, it feels to me as though the “datedness” of particular style trends primarily controls what you can get away with around the edges of an outfit, or with an outfit that’s meant to look effortless rather than high-impact β what shapes and silhouettes strike my eye as “looking good” by default such that even if (say) there are a few compromises to practicality in the outfit, it looks like it’s all purposeful. A few years back, I used to wear a loose, mid-thigh t-shirt dress with leggings and leather sneakers β- such an easy outfit for bike commuting! Now, I would probably wear the same dress primarily with tights and booties or bare legs and sandals: I’d have to commit more fully to styling the dress to make it look intentional.
