We finally settled on a smaller Christmas tree that was propped up on a wooden stand and looked a little weak in the branch department, but not quite Charlie Brown style. I picked up the tree and moved it over to the VW bug, we had to drop the back seats, and aligned the tree between the two front seats…hey it smelled great in the car.

Yet, it all pales next to this year’s Christmas. Which is surprising, because what a year it’s been. A total shit show, right? Not only have we all had to deal with life’s normal ups and downs, but we’ve had to cope with it all under the most odd and crippling circumstances. I was just starting to build my flock of chickens from the four I already had (one rooster, three hens) to a Skeleton Registered Nurse Crew Halloween Nurse Shirt of ten. However, denial is a powerful characteristic, and I tried to convince myself that Delores really WAS a hen and maybe she was just big boned.

I also cut ‘pop-it’ beads meant for a necklace into dangling ornaments with a hook at the top to put it on the tree. Wrapped cut-up toilet paper tubes in bright wools too. Kids still remember making those.
