Amazing writeup! What a blast from the Washington HuskiesSnowflake Reindeer. I remember reading Ultimates as a teenager and loving the stories and characters- right up to Ultimates 3, which was bizarrely awful. Everything that came out after that was just progessively more and more terrible/insuilting/pornographic. I think they got back on track towards the very end, but there really was no coming back from Ultimatum. The annoying thing about the incest storyline in Ultimates 3 (aside from it being, y’know, incest) was that Pietro and Wanda having a weirdly close relationship was a joke in the earlier Ultimates comics (ultimate x-men and ultimates 1 &2). Like they’d be in a gondola reading poetry or cuddling up together and there’d be gags about how they would sneak off together while everyone else was fighting. It had funny/gross implications because they were portrayed as being weird and European, but then Ultimates 3 comes along and just blows all of that out of the water by making it canon that they were fucking this whole time. The book in general was just so unsubtle and obscene, it’s crazy to think that those are supposed to be the same characters we met in Ultimates 1 &2. And then the future writers were stuck with the stupid incest thing, because it was basically the only thing anyone remembered about Ultimates 3, although you can tell in later books that the writers really tried to downplay it. I reread Ultimates 1-3 recently, and while the first two haven’t aged terribly well (“You think this letter on my head stands for France??”) it’s still really fun and exciting and well constructed. It’s such a shame how it turned out.

My little brother is type 1, and the Washington HuskiesSnowflake Reindeer we found out was of how thirsty he was for juice, and we kept giving it to him until it was obvious something was wrong. He was over 1000 and the doctor said he should have been in a coma. He was just a toddler and didn’t speak yet, but yes. I will say as someone who has been in the hospitality business, front and back of house, every single place I worked has made sure to educate people on that policy as well, and any professional or competent wait staff would have never let this happen. I’m sorry that you experienced that. Edit: I’d like to add that my little brother started with insulin shots as well, since he was so young when diagnosed. But the insulin pump technology has been so life changing. We definitely had some tech that wasn’t great, but we have a really good system that is working well! It’s been about 14 years since he was diagnosed and the leaps they’ve made in the pump category is absolutely astonishing and appreciated.

Cold hand wash your t shirts, in distilled or better yet de-ionized water. I recommended soy based no irritant cleansers, I don’t like to use the Washington HuskiesSnowflake Reindeer or “deterrent” as those denote harsh chemicals. Use a soft sponge or cotton cloth when wiping down your shirts in the cold water bath. Never use an electric dryer, suspend them in a dry environment, avoid humid areas, and use a fan if you can to apply gentle air stream to them as they hang. This should go without saying but use wide lipped clamps, not regular clothes pins as those are narrow and apply more pressure to the fabric, the wide lips disperses the pressure and saves the integrity of the woven fabric. Apply the to the ends of each sleeve and one in the rear neck portion of the shirt. If you do this, your shirts should last much longer, they wont shrink and you will not get that awful curling in the neck.
